The Modern Creation Trilogy, Volume II: Science and Creation by Dr. Henry Morris and Dr. John Morris

Reviewed by Tim Chaffey

In the second book of this series, authors Henry Morris and John Morris concentrate on the scientific aspects of the creation v. evolution debate.  This is easily the longest book in the series (343 pages, Vol. 1 has 228 and Vol. 3 has 203).  It is also the book that would need to be updated first since the last ten years have seen a significant amount of new data related to this subject.

This volume approaches the creation v. evolution debate from a strict scientific perspective.  The Bible is purposefully left out of the discussion so that the critic cannot accuse the authors of using the Bible to prove the Bible.  Even more important is the fact that nearly every authority listed in the book is recognized as an evolutionist who believes in billions of years.  This is remarkable in that the evolutionists themselves are shown to argue against their own view.  Throughout the book scientific evidence is examined in detail and then compared with the evolutionary/uniformitarian viewpoint and the creationist viewpoint.  Time and time again, the evidence is shown to support special creation.

After presenting an overview of the scientific debate, the first half of the book conclusively illustrates the fact that evolution has never occurred, is not currently going on, and can never occur.  Again, these claims are backed up by the evolutionists themselves (for more on this subject the reader is encouraged to see Dr. Henry Morris’ That Their Words May Be Used Against Them).

The second half of the book deals with the scientific disciplines of biology, astronomy, geology, and paleontology.  Once again, the scientific evidence argues strongly against evolution.

Some readers may be afraid to tackle the scientific arguments presented in this book.  However, one should not be discouraged.  The authors do an admirable job of making this information easy to understand.  There may be a few difficult sections but overall, it is very readable for anyone who has taken the typical run of high school science courses.  I would highly recommend this book as well as the other two books in the trilogy.
