John Ankerberg and Craig Branch authored this book to inform parents about the dangers of the New Age Movement (NAM).  It focuses on how the NAM is being promoted in our public schools: sometimes by teachers who unwittingly teach it.

This book will open your eyes to the dangers of the NAM in many public and private schools.  In a nation where religious beliefs are (allegedly) not supposed to be pushed in schools, the NAM is being actively promoted under many popular programs.  One of the major changes in education in the past few decades has been the shift in focus from teaching students scholastic disciplines such as history, science, English, and mathematics to a focus on self-esteem and other holistic approaches to education.

The book is divided into three sections.  The first is devoted to the issues involved in this problem.  It explains what the New Age Movement is and explains how and why it has infiltrated the schools.  It also points out the dangers in some of the popular programs, such as D.A.R.E., Quest, DUSO, and Values Clarification.

The second section is entitled Legal and Scientific Considerations and Constructive Involvement.  These chapters focus on the reality of the problem.  It also demonstrates the illegality of the promotion of the New Age religion in our schools.  Unlike many other books, this book also offers suggestions as to how parents and teachers can get involved to put an end to this pagan invasion of our schools.

The third section includes important articles from leading experts on the New Age Movement and education.  Tal Brooke (of Spiritual Counterfeits Project and a former Eastern Mystic guru) has an article pointing out the global goals of the “new” education.  Christians need to be aware that our children are being trained to be disciples of the New Age “global village” and at the same time are being led away from the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Dr. George Twente offers a psychiatrist’s perspective on this issue.  Brooks Alexander (also of Spiritual Counterfeits Project) offers an article regarding the indoctrination of New Age education.  Dr. W.R. Coulson wrote an article entitled: Sex, Drugs, and Schoolchildren—What Went Wrong?

The book also includes five appendices to help the reader find out more about certain topics.  It includes a glossary to help the reader understand New Age terms.  I hope the authors have given some thought to updating this much needed book.  It is an absolute must read for anyone concerned about the future of our nation and would only be better with updated information.

Today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders.  What kind of leaders do we want them to be?  Christian or Antichristian?
