Foolish Faith: What 21st Century Man Says About God by Judah Etinger

Reviewed by Tim Chaffey

I had never heard of this author before but I liked his first name (my son’s name) and since Master Books published it I knew it worth my time.  Judah Etinger has put together an excellent introductory work on apologetics.  Utilizing an inductive approach, Etinger covers a variety of issues related to defending God’s Word, including:

  • Which of the world’s religions is the correct one?
  • Which is right: creation or evolution?
  • Does the Bible support or contradict science?
  • Does the Bible contradict itself?
  • Is the Bible a reliable historical document?
  • Did Christ really rise from the dead?

Etinger merely scratches the surface on each of these topics but it is enough to whet the reader’s appetite for more.  After covering an ample amount of evidence for each topic, Etinger asks which conclusion makes the most sense of the data.  Time and again the answer is loud and clear: the Biblical Christian worldview best fits the evidence around us.  God’s Word is trustworthy and does not need to be compromised for the sake of worldly ideas.

I would strongly recommend this book for new believers or anyone who is just getting started in apologetics.  Etinger covers a surprising number of issues in the book’s 163 pages and lays a foundation for deeper study.  Entire volumes have been written on each subject but that was not the purpose of this book.  One need only look at the endnotes to find resources for further study.
